Workshop Supervisor

MIB is seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Supervisor who is a qualified welder/boilermaker to join our dynamic team with an immediate start. The Workshop Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of our workshop, performing welding and boilermaking tasks, coordinating logistics, managing deliveries, and contributing to the overall success of our production/service goals.

Start: ASAP 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate workflow to meet production targets and deadlines, particularly in the areas of welding and fabrication.
  • Implement and enforce safety regulations and quality control procedures, with an emphasis on welding and boilermaker/fabrication standards.
  • Manage inventory, equipment maintenance, and resource allocation, with a focus on welding and fabrication materials.
  • Oversee procurement activities, ensuring the timely acquisition of necessary materials and supplies.
  • Efficiently manage consumables, optimizing usage and minimizing waste in the workshop.
  • Coordinate logistics, including managing deliveries, ensuring the timely arrival of materials, and coordinating with other departments for seamless workflow.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, other supervisors, and management, emphasizing the importance of welding and boilermaker/fabrication processes.
  • Perform welding and boilermaking tasks as part of the daily responsibilities of the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Take initiative and be self-efficient in managing day-to-day workshop activities.
  • Conduct regular inspections and quality checks, specifically related to welding and fabrication, to maintain high standards.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of production output, inventory, and safety measures, with a specific focus on welding and fabrication documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, especially in welding and fabrication, and implement changes as needed.

Requirements, 

  • Proven experience as a Workshop Supervisor with a strong background in welding and boilermaker/fabrication.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • In-depth knowledge of workshop operations, safety protocols, and quality control, with a focus on welding and fabrication standards.
  • Ability to be self-efficient and effectively manage day-to-day workshop activities.
  • Must be a qualified welder/boilermaker.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform welding and boilermaking tasks.
  • Experience in logistics coordination, including managing deliveries and ensuring the timely arrival of materials.
  • Experience in procurement, including sourcing and purchasing materials.
  • Efficient management of consumables, optimizing usage and minimizing waste.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities, particularly in the context of welding and fabrication challenges.
  • Familiarity with budget management and cost control in the welding and fabrication context.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings including welding symbols.

Qualifications, 

  • Driver’s License
  • Relevant Trade Certificate recognized in Australia – Engineering Tradesperson Fabricator / Welder
  • Weld coded AS/NZS1554 part 1 FCAW and 3992 GTAW/FCAW
  • Forklift License,
  • EWP highly recognized
  • Experience in welding MIG(Hard Wire & Flux Core) Tig(SS & Aluminum)
  • Ability to operate workshop machinery & maintain.
